If you are looking for a career that will be fulfilling and give you plenty of room for advancement then you should consider CNA training. When you become a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will have a career like no other. CNAs are in high demand and the demand is expected to grow over the next ten years. However, you must possess certain traits to be a good CNA.

If you are not sure if being a Certified Nursing Assistant is the right choice for you, it is a good idea to contact your local hospital or nursing home and ask if you can shadow one of their CNAs for a day. This will allow you to see exactly what type of things you will be required to do. A CNA has a physically demanding job that requires lifting, bending, stooping and a lot of walking.

If you determine that you can handle the work, you will need to find a good CNA training program. You can check at the local hospital or nursing home because sometimes they will offer this training. Keep in mind if you get training through a facility, in most cases you will be required to work in this facility after you complete training.

Once you find a good CNA training program you can become certified in six to twelve weeks depending on the program. You can expect to make anywhere from $19,000 per year up to $30,000 per year depending on your location and the facility in which you work.

If you have ever thought about becoming a nurse, it is a great idea to become a CNA first. This will give you the experience you need to supervise the other CNAs once you become a nurse. You will also gain valuable hands on experience that will show you what it is like to take care of your patients’ basic needs. The best nurses were Certified Nursing Assistants first.

CNA training is just the first step to a rewarding career in healthcare. Once you become a Certified Nursing Assistant you will be a very important member of the healthcare team.
